Video Contest
Call for Schools
Executive Summary
This video contest is part of the Waves of Change project, a collaborative project between the Marine and Freshwater Research Centre (MFRC) of the Atlantic Technological University (ATU) and the Galway Atlantaquaria, National Aquarium of Ireland (GA).
The contest aims to encourage and empower youth to share their visions with the wider Irish audience, on three environmental topics: biodiversity loss, ocean pollution and climate change.
Young citizens are invited to produce a short video using small clips from the Leave no Trace song by Naomi Berrill as inspiration. As young citizens will be the next generation of decision makers, they are the most qualified people to act and to inspire their families, friends and communities to protect the environment. This original song was composed to the Galway Bay is Calling project, a project funded by Creative Ireland under the Climate Action Sparks fund, led by Music for Galway, in partnership with the ATU and GA.
Any secondary school, youth association or club with young people aged between 15 - 18, can enter the video contest, as part of the curriculum or as an extracurricular activity. As these environmental issues are global and affect all of us, it is also our responsibility to promote active citizenship based on peer-reviewed scientific information and educational resources that foster critical thinking.
